Volkswagen Group records strong first half

• Volkswagen Group posts record figures for the first six months of the current year
• Group sales revenue increases by 3.5 percent in the first half-year to EUR 119.4 billion
• Operating profit before special items climbs 9.8 percent to EUR 9.8 billion; special items in connection with the diesel issue (EUR 1.6 billion) weigh on performance
• Group’s earnings before tax increase by 2.0 percent in the first half-year to nearly EUR 9 billion
• Continued robust net liquidity in the Automotive Division amounts to EUR 26.3 (23.8) billion
• CEO Diess: “The Volkswagen Group performed successfully in the first half of the year, with very solid growth in sales revenue and earnings. We also delivered more vehicles than ever before. However, we cannot rest on our laurels because great challenges lie ahead of us in the coming quarters.”
